ViRe V0.13.0B
Beta time! ViRe v0.13.0 Beta
After 2+ years of completely uninterrupted development, hopefully, it would have been worth the wait!
With this update, we're finally rounding out our feature list with support for SteamVR full-body tracking! You can now use trackers on your waist, chest, shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees, and ankles just by turning on your tracker and setting its role in SteamVR Input! From there, a popup will let you know you need to scale your avatar by standing in a T-Pose, and you're off mocapping!
We only had the chance to test with a Vive Tracker 3.0 unit, so we really need your feedback and reports. Try it, maybe even record it, and drop us a message or GitHub issue.
Also, thanks to recent Unity and SteamVR updates, we are happy to announce a build for Linux! You can run it like the Windows one by executing the .application
file or adding the executable to your Steam library.
Finally, this release rounds up quite a few bug fixes we cooked up but couldn't test or implement sooner. All to make this update genuinely deserving of the Beta moniker. Here's a rundown of said fixes:
- Update to Unity 6000
- Correct Valve Index bindings (we're still looking for feedback on this one)
- Bump the FileBrowser plugin version to fix interaction issues (#2)
- Completely overhaul the Audio Player, solving multiple long-standing issues
- Update the model scaling logic to better account for player proportions
- Fix UI input field colors to make text readable
- Completely overhaul the update checker and various other scripts to get rid of Regex soup and object search spaghetti
- Polish several UI elements to resolve weird or ugly-looking behavior
We're really looking to hear from you on the functionality of this update, not only of the new stuff but also of the features that got touched up and support for other headsets! With your feedback and, possibly, code contributions, we are excited to get to v1.0 as soon as possible!
ViRe V0.12.0A
Welcome to ViRe Version 0.12.0A
This update brings, among other valuable changes, procedural walking animation for users without extra trackers!
You can adjust the settings for this movement in the new and aptly named Movement options
settings panel.
Most notable changes:
- Implement procedural walking
- Switch to UnityIK
- Update to Unity 2021.3.14f1
- Fix bugs related to settings not being loaded when starting or opening menus
ViRe V0.11.1A
Welcome to ViRe Version 0.11.1A!
This is a relatively minor change, but a frequently requested one.
- Update Unity to 2021.3.9f1 and other plugins
- Orientate and rebind Oculus controls (Oculus controllers are now facing the correct way)
- Minor graphical textures (some more realistic textures for the studio lamps and change of light bake resolution)
ViRe V0.11.0A
Welcome to ViRe Version 0.11.0A!
The changes from 0.10.0A to V0.11.0A are quite major.
Here is a quick list:
- ViRe uses the SteamVR backend again, instead of OpenXR
- An audio player is now available and lets you load audio files, play and pause them, etc. so that you can act out scripts or dance till you drop.
- Some general cleanup and docs have been made, the code is still spaghetti
- Major Performance Gains from updating 3D models and settings (up to roughly 100% better performance)
- You can now select the framerate for your motion capture. Either 15, 30, or 60 FPS is on offer.
- The Update Notification pop-up gives you a button for the download page directly, so you don't have to look for it on GitHub manually
- A switch to the New Unity Input System now lets you press even more buttons, this time on your controllers. Check the image to your right in VR. Bindings similar to that image are available for the Oculus and Valve Index controllers, though your experience may vary as we weren't able to test them
We hope you enjoy this version, it definitely is a much cleaner and more comfortable experience than V0.10.0A already was.
ViRe V0.10.0A
Welcome to ViRe Version 0.10.0A!
This version gets rid of the main menu on screen, as it was incompatible with a VR program.
You now have the entire menu inside VR. You also have a little side menu next to the "ON AIR" Sign. It lets you open the main menu, toggle the recording, or resize your model.
The following Keyboard controls still exist, in case you prefer to use them:
E - Toggle Recording
Q - Resize Model
ESC - Open Main Menu
ViRe also has a update checker now, so it will let you know when we launch a new version!
We hope this lets everyone have fun with ViRe, as for a lot of people, the menu did not respond on the PC Screen. Have fun!
ViRe Version 0.9 Alpha
ViRe 0.9 Alpha
Welcome to ViRe's first release! This is a stable version supporting the headset and 2 hand controllers for tracking.
This Version has only been tested on Windows. It may work on Linux, probably not on Mac.
Major Bugs are known, but feel free to submit new ones, should you find any. Happy Mocapping!
