Current Behavior
Steps to reproduce the behavior
- Go to Manage > Taxonomies
- Click on any taxonomy (e.g. Subjects)
- Click into a term
- Click "Edit"
- Under the "Use for" field, add a term that's different than the term under the "Name" field and click "Save"
- Go to an archival description and add the term as an access point
- Using the global search bar, search for the "Use for" term. This does not retrieve any search results.
- Using the global search bar, search for the controlled term. This does retrieve search results.
Expected Behavior
The docs say here that if users search for the non-preferred term entered in the "Use for" field, AtoM will automatically substitute the preferred term.
For example, I added WWI as a term to the Subjects taxonomy, with WW1 in the "Use for" field. When "WWI" is added as a Subject access point to an archival description, WWI retrieves search results but WW1 does not.
This functionality works when searching within the "Subjects" browse page, but not within global search.
