Motivation

PydanticAI is a 'rising star' among the agent frameworks and gets more and more popular. With pydantic being a big name in python in general, them providing an agent framework is quite a huge thing.

Hi @andnig, I'm very happy to share that we are actively working on supporting PydanticAI via an OpenTelemetry endpoint. We are actively working on it and we are aiming to get a first version of it deployed by the end of the week and a more feature-full version the week after.

We are looking for beta-tester of this new endpoint, would you be willing to give it a try once it's released? That would be very valuable to validate that we are going in the right direction and supporting your use-case nicely.

@andnig We hit some unexpected complexity and we only opened the PR today: #1309

We are aiming to release and deploy it on www.comet.com in the next days, do you want to try it on your own installation or on comet.com?

For the project in question I run a local installation for a client due to regulatory things (and client worries...). However I could redirect some tests to your platform. Long story short: Own installation would be easier for me, but if it helps on your end, I'm happy to use comet.com

Hi @andnig, we made a release today https://github.com/comet-ml/opik/releases/tag/1.4.17 that includes a first version of the new OTel ingestion endpoint.

After updating your Opik installation, you can set the following environment variable OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_ENDPOINT=https://${COMET_SERVER}/opik/api/v1/private/otel to start logging traces to Opik. Please let us know if you are facing any issues. We are actively improving our support for Otel so any feedback would be helpful
