"# results available, use up and down arrow keys to navigate. Press Enter key to select." - NVDA or web site message? #17619
-
I'm testing a project's website, and when I navigate focus to one of their comboboxes, I get a message like: "# results available, use up and down arrow keys to navigate. Press Enter key to select." Is this message coming from NVDA or the client's project website (I can't find it in the F12 dev view in browser). When I switch to French language in NVDA, I see the same message in English too. Hello I have not found the string "use up and down arrow keys to navigate." in NVDA's codebase. Moreover, I am in French translation team and French translation is up-to-date. So this message is not in NVDA's core code. Either it comes from the website (from far the most likely) or from an NVDA add-on (very unlikely according to the add-ons I know in the wild). Last possibility, a browser add-on I know less this topic but it seems also quite unlikely to me. HTH |

Hi, this message likely comes from the web browser itself. Thanks.

I am reasonably sure this comes from jQuery UI's Autocomplete widget. |

Sorry, been off sick. The 3rd party providing the website denied it was in their code base. I downloaded their javascript files and eventually found it in it. The 3rd party software doesn't use jQuery, but that gave me a clue to look for the pattern of code that built the string and I easily found it in their own code (they had cloned and refactored it a bit for their needs). Thanks everyone! |
